AIRPORT-TO-CAMP SHUTTLE SERVICE Transport Reservation Form VOM will provide for a shuttle service between Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC) and Camp Campbell for airline travelers who need a ride to and from camp. If you want to use the shuttle, you must add the shuttle fee to your other camp fees when you pay your final bill, which will be mailed around May 1st. If you cannot use the shuttle we will try to assist you with other arrangements. Check-in time at camp on the 27th is 4:00 p.m. Check-out time on the 4th is no later than 10:00 a.m. Shuttle service has been arranged to meet these times. Your Transportation Coordinator for 2010 is: Larry Espinosa (espinosa@cwo.com) FLIGHT BOOKING Please book your arrival flight to land at SJC before 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 27th. If you plan to fly into San Francisco International (SFO), please book your flight to arrive before 12:00 noon. Please book your return flight from SJC after 1:00 p.m., or from SFO, after 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 4th, if at all possible. Both SJC and SFO information suggest you should arrive at least two hours before domestic flight departure. Travel time between SJC and camp is about 1 hour. For planning purposes, we suggest you allow an extra half hour, or more, to hedge against possible traffic tie-ups. PLEASE NOTE if you’ve been to VOM before, OUR MEETING PLACE HAS CHANGED. The baggage claim area at Terminal C has been demolished. This year, we will meet at the Baggage Claim area of TERMINAL B. We’ll meet at the Baggage Claim area in Terminal B no later than 2:15 p.m. Look for someone holding a sign that says ‘VOM’ You might also look for a group with a bunch of fiddle and ‘cello cases. Call Larry to let him know if you have missed a connection or if your flight has been delayed. We may be able to delay the shuttle departure for a short time. We’ll wait for you at Terminal B if we’re expecting you , and have heard from you that you will be a little late. If delays cause you to miss our shuttle – and we know about it – we will have some alternative way to get you to camp. We won’t leave you stranded. At present, unfortunately, the SJC web site is not very helpful in terms of maps of the airport and Terminal B. Therefore, you must use your traveler’s ingenuity to get to our meeting place. Please check back to this section for any more useful updates that may be available. If you will be arriving at SFO rather than SJC, there are several shuttle options you can use to travel between the two airports. The most direct is available through www.montereyairbus.com for a one-way cost of $20.00 (USD) – however, their website notes that prices are subject to change without notice. Nevertheless, it seems to be the most reasonable and convenient way to get to and from SJC and SFO Reservations are highly recommended. You will find their stop outside the baggage claim area, or the customs area for international flights. Their web site is very clear and helpful, especially about pickup locations. Another shuttle option, essentially a number of inter-airport taxis, is available for about $45.00 - $65.00 (USD). You should be able to find them easily once you arrive at the airport. Less expensive but slightly more complicated public transit is available between the two airports (please see the separate TRANSPORTATION ALTERNATIVES page for details.) RETURN Our bus will return you to the airport on Saturday, September 4th , leaving Camp Campbell at 9:30 a.m. If, for some reason, you must book an early flight, please let us know as soon as possible so we can try to work out an alternative to our planned departure time from camp. COST Round trip ground transportation between SJC and VOM will cost $30.00 per person, including driver’s tip. The cost will be a supplement, which you must add to your VOM final payment, so please don’t send any money to Larry. You will be charged this amount even though you may only ride one way, because the bus company charges for the seat, whether it is occupied or not. RESERVING THE SHUTTLE Please download the Transport Reservation page, fill it out and return it at your earliest opportunity It is a Word file, so you may send it either by e-mail or via U.S. Postal Service. If you fill it out by hand, please print legibly. IF YOU MISS THE SHUTTLE If your flight has been delayed and you arrive after the shuttle has left or you cannot make the shuttle, there are other ways to get to camp. Please see the separate TRANSPORTATION ALTERNATIVES page.
