(return to Transportation page) If you cannot make our shuttle times or if flight delays have caused you to miss it, there are several alternatives that will get you to camp. These include door-to-door limousine service, inter-airport shuttle (from SFO) and/or taxi combined with public transit, public transit only from either SFO or SJC, and, of course, rental car. This information should also be useful if you plan to arrive earlier or stay later than the dates for camp, or if you will be in areas other than the vicinities of San Jose or San Francisco international airports (SJC or SFO). Major links are the Bay Area Regional Transit (BART) and Cal Train services. They connect with each other and local transit agencies. The public transit alternative is least expensive, but will require several transfers. Unfortunately, public transit will get you only to Scotts Valley, which is still about a half-hour away from camp. However, if you phone ahead, and again when you arrive in Scotts Valley, we can have someone meet you there. From SJC, look for the #10 bus that says “Metro Airport – Light Rail Station”. This is a free shuttle. Get off at 1st Street, which is the light rail stop. You must purchase a ticket at a vending machine before boarding the train. Look for the south-bound train that says “Winchester” (not “Santa Teresa”). Go to Diridon Station. You can also take a cab from the airport to “Cal Train Diridon Station”. From SFO, go to the International Terminal, Level 3, and look for the BART station. Purchase a ticket at the vending machine for a trip to Millbrae, a Cal Train station. Purchase a ticket at the vending machine for Diridon Station. From San Francisco, go to the nearest Cal Train station and purchase a ticket to the Diridon Station. From Oakland, Berkeley or other East Bay Locations, go to the nearest BART station and purchase a ticket to Millbrae, then purchase a Cal Train ticket to Diridon Station. At Diridon, purchase a ticket at the window inside the station for the “Amtrak Hwy 17 Express”. Exit the terminal and look to the left for your bus in the bus plaza. Take the bus to the Scotts Valley Transit Center, also known as the Cavallaro Transit Center or the Mt. Hermon & Kings Road stop. Call Larry at (831) 234-5127 to arrange a ride to camp. Phone before or as you leave Diridon, if possible. You can also take the Monterey Air Bus to SJC, then take public transit (see immediately above) or take a cab to Diridon Station. You might find these references useful for schedules, fares and other information.
